Priya Parker

Facilitator, strategic advisor, and acclaimed author of The Art of Gathering

  • About Priya Parker

In a world where connection often feels fleeting and gatherings can lack meaning and focus, Priya Parker emerges as a bold catalyst for change. As a visionary facilitator, author, and sought-after speaker, Parker is helping us take a deeper look at how anyone can create collective meaning and belonging in modern life, one gathering at a time. Krista Tippett, host of the podcast On Being has called her “the voice of what it means to gather in this world we inhabit now.”

Priya Parker is the acclaimed author of The Art of Gathering: How We Meet and Why it Matters, former executive producer and host of the New York Times podcast, Together Apart, and a trusted facilitator, advisor and strategist to leaders and organizations.

In The Art of Gathering, Parker argues that most gatherings lack intentionality and structure, resulting in bland and forgettable experiences. In her book and her engaging in-conversation presentations, she offers insights and strategies for designing gatherings that are engaging, intentional, and transformative. She emphasizes the importance of understanding the purpose and desired outcome of a gathering, as well as the significance of setting the right context, creating a sense of belonging, and fostering meaningful interactions among participants. Event planners, corporate executives, and community organizers alike leave Parker’s sessions equipped with tools to transform their own events.

Parker has spoken on the TED Main Stage and her sessions have been viewed over 3 million times. Drawing from her diverse training in conflict resolution, business management, public policy, and community-building, her talks dive into the anatomy of gathering with purpose. Whether she is talking about gathering as a 21st-century leadership skill, fostering belonging among remote teams, the art of hosting meetings everyone wants to attend, or connecting people across identities, backgrounds, and hierarchies, Parker gives her audiences the skills they need to succeed.

Parker has helped numerous clients develop better in-person and virtual gatherings, including tech and Fortune 500 companies, leading non-profits, education groups, and government agencies, among others.

Parker’s The Art of Gathering: How We Meet and Why It Matters was named a Best Business Book of the Year by Amazon, Esquire Magazine, NPR, the Financial Times, 1-800-CEO-READS and Bloomberg. Creating Connection and Belonging in an Ever-Changing World: AI, Remote Work, and the “Software” of Connection

At moments of change and disruption, a powerful antidote to uncertainty is genuine human connection. In a world increasingly shaped by artificial intelligence and remote work, Priya Parker, celebrated author of The Art of Gathering and a leading conflict resolution facilitator, explores how to design gatherings for connection in a digital age.
By leveraging the "software" of connection—our innate human capacities for empathy and collaboration—Parker demonstrates how we can build resilient, connected communities that thrive amidst change. Parker explores the challenges and hidden opportunities that arise when the ways we work and live are rapidly evolving: What does it mean to "gather" in an AI-enhanced world? How do you build nimble, remote teams that are high trust and high performing? How do you make sure your meetings (in-person, virtual, hybrid) are the culture carriers you want them to be?
Parker unpacks the invisible architecture of meaningful gatherings and joins audiences for a tailored, practical, and skill-based conversation to illuminate the gathering superpowers inherent in any team. Audiences will walk away with practical tools and an inspired vision for connection that transcends technology.

The Power of Gathering: How Women Can Lead, Connect, and Build Meaningful Communities

Women are frequently at the center of bringing people together, often called upon to develop gatherings that celebrate ritual, intention, and connectivity. But too often, this work is undervalued or happens by default rather than by design. How can women create gatherings—big and small—that shape the world and culture around them? How can women translate an inherent interest in growing community into a robust leadership skill? In this engaging and thought-provoking conversation, bestselling author and gathering expert Priya Parker will share how women can rethink the way they design, host, and lead gatherings—whether in workplaces, communities, or personal spaces.

From Classrooms to Communities – The Power of Gathering in Education

Intentional, meaningful gatherings transform classrooms and prepare students for the 21st century world. In engaging conversations, Priya Parker offers educators, student leaders and administrators insights into developing campus culture and boosting faculty-student and alumni engagement. Parker explores how educators can rethink the structure of the classroom, faculty meetings, and school-wide events to make learning more, inclusive, and transformative. She will also talk about how students and educators can engage in difficult conversations with curiosity and without bias. Drawing from real-world examples, research, and hands-on demonstrations, Parker will offer practical tools to help students and the communities that support them feel seen, heard, and valued.
