Jay Asher

New York Times bestselling author of Thirteen Reasons Why and What Light

  • About Jay Asher

Jay Asher is the New York Times-bestselling author of Thirteen Reasons Why, a modern classic which has been translated into 31 languages. The book also inspired a 2017 Netflix original series of the same, produced by Selena Gomez. In October 2016, Asher published his second novel, What Light.  He is also the co-author of The Future of Us with Carolyn Mackler. Most recently, Asher published the graphic novel Piper, a dark, eerie retelling of the story of the Pied Piper.

Asher’s lectures explore the important teen issues he touches on in his books, captivating readers and audience members across generations with his sincerity and compassion. A bona fide book lover, he has worked at an independent bookstore, an outlet bookstore, a chain bookstore, and two public libraries. He hopes, someday, to work for a used bookstore.
