  • About Aziz Abu Sarah and Maoz Inon

Aziz Abu Sarah and Maoz Inon believe peace is not a dream—it is a courageous choice.

Both have endured unimaginable tragedy. As a boy in Palestine, Aziz Abu Sarah lost his brother to injuries sustained at the hands of the Israeli military. Maoz Inon’s parents were both killed in the Hamas-led attack on Israel on October 7th, 2023. The world would expect them to be enemies. Yet when Abu Sarah offered comfort to Inon after his parents’ death, their conversation sparked a friendship grounded in hope.

Now, Aziz Abu Sarah and Maoz Inon are co-founders and CEOs of InterAct International, a nonprofit that amplifies their message of peace to policymakers and citizens worldwide. They believe that sustainable peace can only be achieved with dialogue rooted in mutual vulnerability, honesty, and respect. In both Israel and Palestine, they have built grassroots coalitions of people who are transforming revenge into reconciliation, despair into hope, and trauma into healing.

In their New York Times bestseller The Future Is Peace, Abu Sarah and Inon, both former travel guides, take readers on a transformative weeklong journey across their sacred and bloodstained homelands. Facing competing narratives, they explore how compassion and unity can pull humanity back from the precipice of blind hatred and discover the mythic, political, and personal history that divides yet binds them and their peoples.

Abu Sarah and Inon have brought their urgent message to the United Nations, the European Parliament, the Pope, and the TED mainstage. Their transformative events ask, “How can we deal with conflict? What do we do when two histories and narratives collide?” They urge audiences to ask difficult questions, to be honest but respectful, and to strive for reconciliation over agreement.

Together, Maoz Inon and Aziz Abu Sarah believe that peace is inevitable, and that a future based on reconciliation and recognition, security and safety, and empathy and equality is within our reach.

Praise for The Future is Peace

If there is ever to be a sustainable settlement in the Middle East, it will come not from bombs and bogus peace boards but from ordinary people coming to respect each other and tolerate each other’s differences—and even finally to enjoy them. This moving book shows the essential first step on that path, as two courageous men stop hating each other and start talking together. If you’ve lost your faith in the future, read this beautiful book by two people who’ve found it.
